Ross Andresen probably never imagined that a simple home decorating project would kick start a thirty year passion and business for her husband Kroghie, who just published Gunnin’ Birds--a comprehensive anthology about many of the history-rich, working decoys found on the North Carolina coast and in the Back Bay, Virginia area.
After Ross sought out a decoy for the family’s den back in 1979, Kroghie became an avid collector. Since retiring from the banking industry, he not only pursues his hobbies of hunting, golfing and collecting decoys, but is currently promoting Gunnin’ Birds in museums, bookstores, decoy collecting magazines, and on-line. He also appraises decoy collections and assists collectors who want to sell or buy decoys.
Kroghie is an active member of the Carolina Decoy Collectors Association and frequents collector’s shows and decoy auctions across the country.
